حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مَنْصُورًا ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِذَا أَتَيْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ فَتَوَضَّأْ وَضُوءَكَ لِلصَّلَاةِ ، ثُمَّ اضْطَجِعْ عَلَى شِقِّكَ الْأَيْمَنِ وَقُلِ : اللَّهُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي إِلَيْكَ ، وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ ، وَأَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَيْكَ رَهْبَةً وَرَغْبَةً إِلَيْكَ ، لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلَا مَنْجَا مِنْكَ إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ ، آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ ، فَإِنْ مُتَّ مُتَّ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ فَاجْعَلْهُنَّ آخِرَ مَا تَقُولُ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَسْتَذْكِرُهُنَّ وَبِرَسُولِكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ ، قَالَ : لَا وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ .
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, "When you go to sleep, perform ablution like the ablution of prayer, then lie down on your right side and recite this supplication: "O Allah! I surrender myself to you. I entrusted everything to you. I handed over my affairs to you. Out of fear and in hope of Your (mercy and reward) there is no refuge. There is none sincere but You. I have believed in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent. If you die, you will die on the religion of Islam, so make these words the last words (of the night) that you utter with your tongue.
