حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، قَالَ: إِنِّي لَأَمْشِي مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ بِمِنًى، إِذْ لَقِيَهُ عُثْمَانُ فَاسْتَخْلَاهُ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَنْ لَيْسَتْ لَهُ حَاجَةٌ، قَالَ لِي: تَعَالَ يَا عَلْقَمَةُ، فَجِئْتُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُثْمَانُ: أَلَا نُزَوِّجُكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بِجَارِيَةٍ بِكْرٍ، لَعَلَّهُ يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ مَا كُنْتَ تَعْهَدُ ؟ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: لَئِنْ قُلْتَ ذَاكَ، لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمُ الْبَاءَةَ فَلْيَتَزَوَّجْ، فَإِنَّهُ أَغَضُّ لِلْبَصَرِ وَأَحْصَنُ لِلْفَرْجِ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ مِنْكُمْ فَعَلَيْهِ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لَهُ وِجَاءٌ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Muaqal bin Yasar (RA) that a man came to the Prophet (PBUH) and said: I have found a woman who is of good character and beauty, but she has no children. So should I marry him? He said: "No." Then he came again, so you forbade him. Then he came for the third time and he said: "Marry such women who are very loving and will give birth to many children." Undoubtedly, I am proud of your abundance over other nations. (Imam Abu Dawud, may God have mercy on him, while describing the introduction of one of the narrators of the previous hadith, Mustalm bin Saeed, says:) Hasan bin Ali narrated that I heard Yazid bin Haroon saying: I saw Mustalm, he was right and left. They were walking. Hasan bin Ali said: He did not lay his side on the ground for forty years (did not sleep). Imam Abu Dawud, may God have mercy on him, says that Mustalam bin Saeed is the nephew of Mansur bin Zazan. He stayed for seventy days but did not drink water. .
